Guardian · Brand system
Three rooms, one house.
The mark varies with ground — argent wings on Iron, the dark chip on Paper, the emboss medallion on Argent — but the wordmark does not. Guardian sets in tracked uppercase Geist on every ground, because the sign over the door is the name of the house, not the voice of the room. Every other decision — palette, body type, accent, section name — belongs to the treatment.
01 · Treatment
Workshop
Where the work happens.
Iron ground, Geist throughout, Amber as the sole accent. The productivity chrome — marketing, docs, console, the everyday register. Fraunces is reserved for editorial body copy in the other rooms.
02 · Treatment
Newsroom
The broadcast.
Argent ground, Flare hero bands, Flare CTAs. Modeled as a press-room blog index: the single loud field carries the bulletin; the rest of the page stays crisp so the acid green can speak.
03 · Treatment
Letters
The long form.
Paper ground, Fraunces body, Bordeaux as the editorial accent. Where individual voices inside Guardian show their work — an engineer's postmortem, the founder's note, a milestone retold in full.
04 · Applied — Photography
Argent needs a floor.
Photography and video break the Iron canvas rule by definition — the ground is whatever the image contains. The mark still reads as Argent, but it now needs a floor: an iron scrim gradient that guarantees ≥ 3:1 contrast on the wings, regardless of what the camera saw.
05 · Applied — Business Cards
3.5 × 2 inches.
The working card, carried by everyone. Iron ground, argent wings cropped tight to the glyph — the same mark the live console wears, handed across a table.
